We are so desensitised we don't know what's gross and what's not anymore 🤷🏻‍♀️⚠️ Remember our dogs who got caught in wire (presumably snares set to catch wild boar 😞)? Pandora has had surgery and is recovering in her kennel. Her wounds are healing nicely, but are going to take a while to get there. Norma was originally scheduled for surgery this week, but we decided to delay it and wait five more days as we *think* we might be able to heal the old gal with dressings alone. But we shall see... Thank you so much to everyone who's donated and asked after these two, it's much appreciated. 🐶🛏️🐶 BLANKETY BLANK(ET) APPEAL 🐶🛏️🐶 Oh hello! Do you live in Sri Lanka? Own a hotel here? Do you have spare/old towels or blankets that you don't need? WECare would love to take them off your hands! Rainy season appears to be rearing its soggy little head ☔️ and while we relish the chance to put jumpers on and mainline tea, we dread the clinic's monsoon laundry load. The damp atmosphere means our washing now takes approximately ~3 years~ (give or take) to dry, which means we run out of dog bedding really fast 😬 So, we're desperately looking for towels and blankets (old bedsheets also work but aren't as good, as the dogs shred them) - if you have any, please let us know! (And let us know if you need us to come and collect them or if you're able to drop them to our clinic in Gandara ✌️) We have lots of poorly dogs who would love to snuggle down into your old towels ❤️ Thank you thank you thank you! ✨✌️✨ P.S. *** TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY: THE TOFFEE EDITION *** ⚠️HEADS UP - videos 3 and 4 are a bit grisly⚠️ This tiny little pup is Toffee, who arrived last month after she was hit by a vehicle in nearby village, Talalla. Luck was on her side as a) this strong little sausage survived the hit and b) some kind-hearted locals brought her to us after finding her ✨ On admit, we discovered that Toffee had a degloved rear leg (where the skin and tissues are ripped from the muscle 😬) and a fracture. Oh, and some juicy ticks feasting on her. Quite a lot to deal with at such a young age (we reckon she's currently only about 3 months old...!) but Toffee took it in her stride like a boss 💪 We set to work fixing the little pooch, and while her wound healed nicely, the fracture didn't play ball and hasn't healed as we'd hoped. We wanted to avoid amputation if possible, so we've been performing gentle physio (super difficult on a tiny puppy who just wants to play 😂, thank goodness for our incredibly patient animal care assistants 🙏) to try and save Toffee's leg. While it's not functioning like a 'normal' leg, we've decided to leave Toffee with four limbs for now as she's comfortable and using it pretty well (check out the last video of that sassy little scritch!). *** GARDENING & DOGGY SPA DAY *** Thank you so much to Mandy, Portia and Rhian from @talalla_retreat and Don from @smoke_n_bitters (purveyors of the best jackfruit sandwich IN THE WORLD) who helped us out recently bathing our dogs and bleaching the bejeezus out of our garden (we had an unfortunate spot of ringworm and bleach is the only thing to kill all the spores🥴). It was a long day in the baking heat but WE DID IT! 💪 The dogs loved their spa day - Maya had the longest massage in the world and Eddie enjoyed a restyle (mohawk) and a tail trim (there were some serious tangles).
