The Three Wheeler
Rita arrived at WECare in November 2019, as a tiny pup COVERED in motor oil, unable to use her back legs. We can only assume she’d been hit by a vehicle. Luckily, Rita was spotted by a kind local who brought her in – we dread to think what would have happened to her otherwise! The poor pup was in a lot of pain and X-ray revealed a proximal femoral fracture on her left hind leg, which unfortunately, there was no saving. Cleaning as much motor oil off her as we could, we booked Rita in for surgery the next day. Rita’s wound healed well following amputation and she was ready to tear about the place after 10 days.
Once fully vaccinated, we popped her into our garden to mingle with the other pups as she was much too small to be put back on the street. Once Rita was big enough to be neutered, we did the deed and then put her up for adoption. Except…nobody wanted her. Despite going to numerous adoption days and being viewed by loads of people, our three-legged beauty is always overlooked. We have no idea why! Maybe ‘cos she’s female. Maybe ‘cos she’s a tripod. Maybe ‘cos she’s blonde. Who knows? All we know is that we will be her family until we can find her a forever home, whenever that may be.
RITA, YOU MAY BE ON THE SHELF BUT YOU’RE ON THE BEST SHELF, DARLIN’.
