Rosie is a tough cookie, with a super soft centre. She was dumped at one of our CNVR (catch, neuter, vaccinate, release) pop-ups back in November 2016. At these clinics, we neuter and vaccinate local street dogs, but we also invite people in the area to bring their cats and dogs to get neutered/vaccinated for free. They tend to drop them off and then pick them up later in the day, but Rosie’s owners never came back. We tried and tried to get hold of them, but to no avail. Rosie became a WECare dog, and made her home at our volunteer house. She spends her days chilling on her chair outside the house, and having adventures with her street dog pals.
We thought she was a pretty chilled dog until Mama Dog appeared. Mama Dog was dumped outside our clinic with her puppies back in August 2018. Mama started following our volunteers back to the volunteer house every night, and soon made her home there. At first, Rosie wasn’t impressed. However, despite initially disliking her, Rosie would always protect Mama from the other dogs in the area, who were guarding their territory. Mama was oblivious to Rosie’s disdain, and she eventually ground her down. Now? They’re the best of friends. And they play ALL the time. Their favourite time to play is late at night, when the volunteers are trying to sleep…
