Everyone meet Modo. This gorgeous little goofball first came to the clinic back in February 2020 when his concerned guardians brought him in with a huge mass on his left-hand shoulder. Measuring a whopping 15cm (which suggested it had been like that for some time) it was restricting his movement significantly and was understandably causing him a lot of pain and discomfort.
Initially unclear as to whether it was a tumour or an abscess, an ultrasound soon showed that the mass was full of fluid, which was likely the result of an untreated dog bite which had become infected. As well as a general MOT, Modo was started on meds to treat the infection, while the clinical team set about tackling the abscess itself- lancing, flushing and draining it every few days.
Modo handled it like an absolute hero and it was only a few weeks before he was back in business and ready to be returned to his guardians down the road. Modo however, had other ideas. Evidently an opportunist, Modo reappeared outside the clinic a few days later and made it clear he had no intention of going anywhere. He even jumped in Janey’s car one day – he’s THAT cheeky!
Modo now splits his time between the clinic and the volunteer house, while very occasionally popping his head in to his guardians to say hello.
He’s living his dream street dog life, and we’re happy to help him do that, especially as he gives the BEST cuddles.
