The softest boi
Cat lovers, this one’s for you!
WECare’s animal care assistant Thushari brought Chester in back in September 2019 when she spotted him out and about with some pretty mangled and maggoty feet. (Working at WECare is a round-the-clock job, we are never not scanning the streets for broken animals…!)
The poor boy had maggot wounds in both hind paws, and was also showing signs of cat flu. His left hind paw was intact with a small maggot wound but the wound on his right hind paw was HUGE – with bones showing!! File that under ‘not ideal’.
Dr Nayomi applied antibacterial wound powder to the injured paws and then dressed them, ready for maggot removal the next day. (The powder kills the maggots ready for ‘extraction’. Lovely stuff.)
The right paw couldn’t be saved so that leg was booked in for amputation with Dr Janey when Chester was feeling less congested. The left paw was ‘brought back to life’ over the course of five weeks, with lots of dressing changes and a spot of surgery. Seriously, he looked such a state when he came in, he’s had quite the glow up.
Chester is now healed, neutered and vaccinated, and we couldn’t find a local guardian for him so he’s still with us, looking for a new home.
We love him to pieces (he’s SUCH a snuggler) but he deserves a better life than the one he’s currently living in our cat room. Don’t get us wrong, he gets love and cuddles but he needs a forever home. Who can give him cuddles aaaaaaaaaall day long Until then, he need some sponsors to show him some digital love and help us look after him.
CHESTER, YOU’RE THE BEST(ER).
