Three legs, full heart, can’t lose.
Before you say anything, Poppers was named after our nurse Poppy and NOT the recreational drug *ahem*. Now that’s cleared up, let’s tell you this cutie’s back story — Poppers was brought in by a local uni student who’d seen her being attacked by another dog. X-rays revealed a very injured front leg, which required amputation, so Poppers became a tripod at only six weeks old! However, she was an incredibly resilient young lady and adapted to life on three legs like a dream. Unfortunately, once Poppers was healed she couldn’t go back to the streets as she was only a pup when she came in, so hadn’t had time to learn how to be a street dog. So, this darling dog checked into our fine boarding facilities (the resident dog garden), where she remains to this day, awaiting adoption.
Poppers has stolen all our hearts with her beautiful hazel eyes that stare DEEP into your soul; we couldn’t love her more if we tried. Though she’s always been a little shy, she’ll always trot over to greet you in the hope of receiving a big portion of food (our girl has a solid appetite) and a cuddle. If we’re ever feeling overwhelmed, we can always rely on Poppers to relax us with her calming aura. (Maybe she should be a therapist?!) Poppers learned at a young age that conflict wasn’t her thing, and she’s great at keeping the peace with her two besties who she shares the garden with. Rest assured, however, that she can stand up for herself when she needs to — that’s the street dog in her.
Will you help support Poppers until she finds her forever home? She’ll thank you with monthly pics and updates….go on, you know you want to!
Please be aware this is a monthly donation.
