The canine equivalent of a Duracell battery.
This lovely lady was brought along to one of our CNVR days in 2022 with an injury to her right shoulder joint. Whisking her back to the hospital, X-rays confirmed she had a displaced fracture across her humerus that unfortunately couldn’t be fixed, resulting in a leg amputation.
Thankfully, our Guinness healed wonderfully, adapting perfectly to life as a tripod. The only issue was that once it was time for her to be discharged, she didn’t have a safe place to go back to. A couple of community members said they’d keep an eye on her, but the roads are hectic where she used to live and we didn’t think it wise for her to live there without a proper guardian or owner, so she moved into our resident dog garden to await rehoming.
Unfortunately, Guinness hasn’t had any takers (yet!), so will you be her pen pal until she does? She may have lost a leg but she didn’t lose a DROP of her spicy character, dominating the two dogs she shares the garden with like the boss lady she is, tearing around like a loon, and inhaling her food like she’s never had a meal in her life. She might not always like other dogs, but she adoooooores her humans, dishing out an endless stream of smooches and cuddles.
Just like a pint of the black stuff, our girl Guinness is sharp, refreshing, and moreish — we just can’t get enough!
P.S. Our Irish VCA Kiva chose her name, as a tribute to the Emerald Isle that she calls home — CUTE!
