She was super friendly and absolutely covered in ticks, the poor thing 😔 It was weird – we didn’t recognise her as one of the dog’s in our neighbourhood but it’s like she knew we had flea and tick medication in the house! Instagram post 2226264419200380289_1513000395 *** TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY*** Bowie rocked up on Boxing Day with absolutely horrific wounds to his face and neck (hold tight for some pretty graphic pictures🥺). We can’t be sure but we think it was caused by a dog fight. The smallest cuts can swiftly turn into maggot infested nightmares in this humid climate, and maggots had well and truly burrowed into poor old Bowie. You’ve got to respect their hustle really, haven’t ya?! 😵 Our dedicated (and retching🤢) team removed all the maggots and dressed Bowie, praying we could save his left eye. While most of the wound started healing like an absolute dream 🙏 we realised there was no way that eye was ever seeing the light of day again, so opted for removal. Just three weeks after he arrived, one-eyed Bowie was healthy, healed, neutered, vaccinated and ready to go back home to the streets 💪 (where he has a guardian who feeds and looks out for him). What a transformation! It just goes to show that even the most horrific of wounds has potential to heal (almost) as quickly as it started, so long as we have local legends informing us when animals need help. He checked in to Hotel WECare, before being diagnosed with severe mange, a belly full of worms and a wound to the leg 😮 Donner’s still recovering in his kennel because of his wound but would you just LOOK at his transformation already after his mange medication! He’s got a way to go but we think he’s a stunner. Bear was brought in around six weeks ago with a big maggot wound on his back, which has healed rather nicely! He’s been enjoying time outside his kennel during recovery, training for the WECare Olympic Fetch team 🏅 His dreams have been quashed though as he got discharged yesterday and was released back to his home on the street.
